Saint
Patrick Catholic School, was founded in 1921, the one hundred-fifth
year of the parish. Originally attached to the convent that
housed the four Sisters of Mercy from Cresson who arrived that
same year, and along with eighty-seven children, inaugurated
the beginning of Catholic education in the area. On April 3,
1944, a fire destroyed both the frame school and Convent. Both
the Pastor, Father Jeremiah P. Flynn, and the Parishioners,
were determined to rebuild. A new school building, Convent and
Parish Hall resulted in their dedicated efforts and all were
ready for dedication by Bishop Richard T. Guilfoyle, January
21, 1945. In 1991, extensive school
renovations began, resulting in the addition of a new school
wing of classrooms, and, a full gymnasium.
Saint
Patrick School is accredited by the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown,
by the National Catholic Education Association and the Middle
States Commission on Elementary Schools. Saint Patrick Catholic
School serves Students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
Our school welcomes all who are interested in a Catholic Christian
education. Although the majority of Students represent three
sponsoring parishes in the Blair County area, admission is open
to students of all religious backgrounds.
